Welcome to the Ambient Intelligence for Immersive Networked Systems Lab
The Ambient Intelligence for Immersive Networked Systems (AIINS) Lab is a research lab of the Department of Computer Science at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu, Taiwan. AIINS is led by Dr. Cheng-Hsin Hsu, located at EECS 741 and 742. We are advancing the fields of multimedia networking, ambient intelligence, and distributed systems. Our research focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating robust systems that seamlessly deliver high-quality, immersive content across networks to heterogeneous devices. Our expertise spans dynamic 3D point clouds, IoT-enabled smart spaces, adaptive cloud VR, and multimedia fog computing. We are systems-oriented innovators who build practical, scalable prototypes using off-the-shelf components, pushing the boundaries of intelligent, interactive environments for real-world impact.
- We are recruiting post-doc researchers and PhD students. Please send your CVs to chsu@cs.nthu.edu.tw if interested.
- Many of our projects involve international collaborators from various countries, including the USA, Canada, Norway, Singapore, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Japan, and Korea. If you are interested in getting a paid internship or doing a dual degree (Master’s or PhD) at these collaborating labs, don’t hesitate to contact me (chsu@cs.nthu.edu.tw).
- If you want to join us, please send me (chsu@cs.nthu.edu.tw) a few paragraphs about your research interests. I will contact you if we share the same interests and vision. Our current research directions include:
- Streaming neural 3D representations for immersive communication systems.
- Enabling cloud XR applications over 5G/6G cellular networks.
- Enabling ambient intelligence using digital twins in smart spaces.
- Automating drone swarms for first responder support.
- Utilizing multi-modal sensors for human, uncertainty-aware activity recognition.
- In the past few years, we have attended many conferences at more than 55 cities in more than 19 countries. See the maps below.
